Martin Johnston joins Acuitas with a wide range of experience in public policy, legislative affairs, and political strategy at the state and federal levels. Most recently, Martin served as Chief of Staff to State Senator Roger Victory, where he managed all aspects of the Senator’s policy, communications, and district operations.

Prior to that, he held several senior roles in the Michigan Senate, including Legislative Director and Legislative Aide to former State Senator Wayne Schmidt, Assistant Majority Leader. In these roles, he specialized in appropriations, transportation, education, and local government policy—playing a key role in advancing key legislative priorities across Northern Michigan and Lakeshore.

Martin’s political experience also includes working many election cycles on various state and federal campaigns and also working on the legal team at Stenger & Stenger, P.C.

He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Grand Valley State University.

Outside of the office, Martin enjoys spending time running, exploring Michigan’s shoreline, and staying active in state and local politics. He’s also an avid golfer—though he’ll be the first to admit his swing is a work in progress.
